OUR PROCESS

SSD Silk proudly stands as one of the rare units specializing in dyeing and processing digital printing on woven Pure Silks. This unique approach is suited for sarees, running materials, suit sets, dupattas, and textile accessories.

At SSD Silk, we prioritize quality and sustainability in every step of our process. Our dedication to excellence is reflected in the attention to detail we put into the pre-treatment of the fabrics before printing. By carefully preparing the silks, we ensure that the colors are vivid and long-lasting. For printing we use reactive printing, Reactive printing is a permanent way of printing on natural fabrics by creating chemical reactions at a cellular level in fibers. It’s a multistep process that involves pretreating fabrics to prepare them for ink, printing digitally with special inks, steaming the fabric to initiate the reaction, and finally washing out excess ink and softening the fabric for use. While it’s not the easiest way to print fabric, reactive printing gives the best results every time in terms of color, softness, usability, and durability.

After the dyeing and printing process is complete, we continue to set ourselves apart with our thorough post-treatment procedures. This step is crucial in maintaining the integrity of the fabric and the brilliance of the digital prints. Our commitment to enhancing the durability and vibrancy of the textiles is unwavering.

PRETREAT

Each of our fabrics undergoes a personalized treatment prior to the printing stage, akin to a rejuvenating spa experience. This process entails immersing each fabric in a specially formulated liquid bath, uniquely tailored to its fabric type. This liquid serves as the key element that interacts with the dyes, ultimately leading to long-lasting and permanent printing results.

PRINT

After the treated fabrics have dried, it’s time for them to get printed. Our super-sized printer, named Konica, is made specifically for using reactive dyes, and only reactive dyes. Using state-of-the-art technology, Konica can print millions of colors, ensuring a perfect and accurate print every single time

STEAM

In the reactive process, the magic happens during the steaming step! Our newly printed fabric goes through a fancy steaming machine, where it’s enveloped in 105-degree steam for around 10 minutes. This hot steam reacts with the dyes, locking in the color into each fiber of the fabric for good. It’s like giving the fabric a spa treatment!

WASH & DRY

Step 4 is the washing phase. Think of it like rinsing off a face mask after it’s had time to work its magic on your skin. After the fabric has been steamed and the color setting has happened, we give it a good, cleansing wash and let it dry. Now, the colors are vibrant, intense, and totally permanent.
